Maternity Swimsuit
Swimwear with its great variety of styles also includes maternity swimwear. Especially in recent years, maternity swimsuits have grown in popularity. Twenty to thirty years ago people would have thought that maternity + swimsuit goes together as water and vinegar, not at all. In many countries doctors recommended rest and no hard or any work at all for pregnant women, but this concept has changed over the last ten to twenty years. Swimming actually is a recommended sport for pregnant women to keep fit.
In water the joints and the whole body have less stress and work through the buoyancy of the body in water. Another very important aspect of swimming for pregnant women includes reduced swelling in ankles and other water retention risk parts. Along with this discovery maternity bathing suits are logical development. Although fit and lean pregnant women would probably be able to squeeze in a few sizes bigger bathing suit, it would be hard and uncomfortable for them as well as for the baby. Wearing a two-piece revealing the pregnancy belly is not something most pregnant women do want. Therefore a maternity swimsuit is usually designed for comfort and space for the belly as well as for hiding certain aspects like the big belly.
In general a maternity bathing suit has a big size maternity style pants and a wide tank top like top that drapes over the belly and is also long enough to cover the whole belly. Most maternity swim suits also have a built in sports bra like contraption to support the pregnant woman’s breast and take strain of the already strained back. A maternity swim suit can be found in any maternity store and sometimes in department stores with a maternity cloth section. Just like maternity cloths a maternity swimsuit is not very cheap. They can come very costly since they are not as high in demand, use a lot of fabric and are designed for one purpose only. Discount maternity bathing suits can sometimes be found online or at the end of the swimming season. Another way to find cheap maternity bathing suits is looking on ebay or yard sales for used ones, since they are an item that does not get used very often in the 9-10months of pregnancy. As with all other cloths, plus size maternity bathing suits are available.
Plus size maternity swimsuits are harder to find and are not even carried by most maternity stores in their local selection. Usually plus size maternity swimwear can be special ordered or is found online or in plus size stores. Some bigger size women like to use plus maternity swimwear, and most of the regular plus size swimwear does look very similar to maternity swimwear.
After all we know now that swimsuits + maternity do belong together.
