Speedo

The term Speedo usually refers in Northern America to male swimming briefs. In some countries like Australia for example swim briefs are also called men bikinis. The name Speedo was derived from the manufacturer Speedo who is one of the major manufacturers for competitive men’s Speedo swimsuits. The male Speedo resembles a tight swim pants in the form of a male slip or brief. Other names for Speedos are competition briefs, swim briefs, racing briefs or bathers, not to mention some of the not so elegant terms sometimes used to mock a man wearing a swim brief to the beach or pool. Men’s Speedos are usually V-shaped in the front and have a bigger piece in the back to cover the buttocks. A small rubber or other band at the upper edge of the pants generally holds up mens Speedos, very similar to underwear briefs. Male Speedos are most often fabricated from Nylon or Lycra and Spandex materials.

Currently there are several discussions going on in the United States whether men should wear Speedos or not. The argument is that for a casual trip to the pool or beach Speedos are to revealing and for current swim standards just plain embarrassing. While in other countries this is not an issue, people are more open to the nature of the human body and not as up tight as in the United States, wearing a Speedo to the local pool can get you open laughter, insults and inappropriate books. The men Speedo is commonly worn by competitive swimmers as racing suits and sometimes also worn as undergarment in wet suits by surfers and divers to reduce the bulk inside the suit. In college Speedos for men are the most affordable racing suit versus longer pants or whole body suits.

Well of course there are some more sexy versions of men’s Speedos on the market such as men’s g string Speedos or men’s low cut Brazilian Speedos. The Speedo for men is also preferred in some swimsuit issues since it reveals more of the body than a short or trunk will. If it wasn’t for the laughter and grinning faces from others I am sure most women would love to see there handsome others with man Speedos.

Men’s Speedos can be found at lots of retailers and department stores, but in a greater variety at sports and special competitive swimming supply stores. If you are looking on buying good quality but cheap Speedo for men it is recommended to wait for an end of swimming season sale. Since grown up man usually do not change in clothing sizes much, it is as easy as waiting and keeping it in the closet till next summer.
